Snow! Snow! Snow!
Have you seen enough? Spring is just around the corner, so chin up! Take this time to get to know your neighbors. Help each other shovel and chat over hot chocolate. Don't forget your decks, all that extra weight may make your deck your patio! When you come in from the cold and want to get cozy by the fire, make sure first that your chimney is clean and free of debris; fires are best in the fireplace not throughout the house!
With all the snow piled high be sure to watch for small children and pets, use caution and go slow. Speaking of pets, did you know that road salt is very harmful to your pets. Be sure to wipe your pet's paws after their run through the outdoors. Don't let your dog run to far though; dogs lose their sense of smell in the snow and often get lost because they can't smell their previous markings. After all that exercise be sure your pet has plenty of water (check water outside it might be frozen) and 25% more food then normal. During the winter months the extra food will be stored as fat and give them the extra energy they need keep warm.

The MOMS Club, an international support group for at-home mothers, is starting a new chapter in Abingdon. The group is planning to sponsor "activity groups" that will allow members to share similar interests. Activity groups may include playgroups, babysitting coops, a monthly MOMS Night Out, lunch get-togethers, arts and crafts, and more! Whatever moms are interested in, the group will consider doing.
Because the MOMS Club is a support group specifically for mothers-at-home, all meetings are held during the day and mothers may bring children to anything the club does. The group believes that the meetings and activities should be held during the day because that is when the at-home mother most needs the support.
The Abingdon MOMS Club is specifically for mothers in Abingdon, but the group is hopeful that mothers from neighboring towns will call for more information about starting a MOMS Club in their area.
For more information about upcoming meetings and how to join the MOMS Club in Abingdon, please call Amy at 410-569-5467 or email [email protected].
